NIA WALTON

Data Systems & Analytics Lead

Nia Walton is a data scientist and analyst dedicated to using data to strengthen community wellbeing and expand opportunity for young people and families in Washington, DC. She brings deep experience building pipelines, dashboards, and predictive models that make complex information accessible to frontline practitioners, educators, and decision‑makers.

In addition to working part time at Peace For DC, Nia serves as an AI Researcher, leading the development of machine learning models and data systems that support research, validation, and evidence driven decision making. At Howard University, she developed machine learning models to validate low cost environmental sensors and designed large scale data ingestion systems to support research and resource allocation.

​

She previously worked as a Data Analyst at Corning, Inc., where she built automated pipelines that centralized eight years of experimental data and reduced reporting errors by 40 percent.

​

Her background also includes building real time K 12 data dashboards, conducting predictive HR analytics, and supporting research teams at NASA Ames Research Center and The Boeing Company.

​

Nia holds a Bachelor of Science from Spelman College, where she was an Honor Roll student and a member of Pi Mu Epsilon, the national mathematics honor society.
