LISA GORDON

Volunteer Program Coordinator

Lisa Gordon is a passionate, community‑rooted advocate who brings a rare blend of empathy, operational excellence, and deep experience in volunteer leadership to her role as Peace For DC’s Volunteer Program Coordinator. A fourth generation Washingtonian, Lisa has spent years building trusted relationships across neighborhoods, agencies, and grassroots organizations, always centering the needs, voices, and dignity of those most impacted by violence and inequity.

Her path into community work began after a 15‑year career as a master stylist and colorist, when she stepped into mutual aid and gun violence prevention efforts in her own neighborhood. Her leadership roles with Moms Demand Action DC- including serving as Chapter Leader- reflect her skill in coordinating citywide advocacy, managing diverse volunteer teams, and partnering with elected officials, government agencies, and community‑based organizations. Her work has included planning large‑scale events, facilitating policy conversations, and supporting families and survivors with compassion and clarity.

Lisa also brings extensive administrative and operational experience from her previous role as Personal Assistant to the CEO/Founder of The Center for Mind‑Body Medicine. There, she managed complex schedules, coordinated events, supported writing and research for national publications, and ensured seamless communication across teams and stakeholders. Lisa also co-founded #BecauseWeLoveYouMeals, a mutual aid effort that prepares and distributes home‑cooked meals to neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

Lisa is dedicated to building a volunteer program that is trauma‑informed, accessible, and rooted in the lived experiences of DC residents- ensuring that every volunteer feels valued, prepared, and connected to the mission of creating a safer, more hopeful city.
